What is the chemistry of food?
The study of the interactions of both biological and non-biological units in the chemical process with the components of food. Biological substances can include any crops and meats as well. It allows the understanding and explanation for proper reactions and changes that can happen. Encompasses how things can change under certain processing techniques and ways to improve them or end them. Basic chemistry deals with primary components such as carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins.
Why is food chemistry important?
The chemical and biochemical composition of foods is fundamental to the study of their properties and processing applications. It also allows a deeper understanding of how chemistry affects food and as well as knowing what we consume. Food chemistry is also important on how it allows artificial flavors to be recreated with fewer compounds that the actual food compounds itself.
